7 things you really need on your desk
I am of course typing this piece behind my desk at the office. To my right is Jet, with a desk that is so messy that I can barely see Jet herself. Lies thinks she is very organized with all her boxes and staplers, but in the meantime, the Asos boxes have piled up quite a bit and the rest has all been dropped into her desk drawer. So there is still a lot to gain. My desk, on the other hand, is extremely tidy because I really find a messy desk terrible. I get very restless and easily distracted while typing or drawing. Besides, you only need a few items, besides your laptop, charger, and phone, to work well. Invest in these five items and you will see that your desk looks much tidier and you will feel even more motivated to sit behind the desk. Liesbeth, Jet, are you reading along?
I find a good pair of scissors very chic. The one from Hay is very beautiful gold, making it really a luxury item. When packages arrive, you open them with even more pleasure, and scissors always come in handy.

Ever since I’ve known May, and that’s been a few years now, she writes everything with her fountain pen. It looks very neat in her agenda and makes every note even more personal and impressive. I also always think it looks nice on the desk because it stands out. So a good fountain pen, really an investment.

A notebook is really worth its weight in gold. You can give all your scribbles and ideas a place in it (for that, you obviously need a lot of pages) and it also looks cool on the workspace.
Notebook, €9.95, teNeues via de Bijenkorf
I can believe that there are occasionally little messes that end up on the desk that you need to find a place for. Paperclips, nail polish, and rubber bands, for example. So a box. Closed. You can neatly put all those little messes in it and then close it. No one sees that mess.

A must-have. You don’t have to keep walking to the kitchen to refill your glass, but there’s just a jug on your desk. Fill it with some lemons and limes and you stay fresh all day.
Jug, €29.95, Zara Home
A little music does good. Quietly as background music.
