JUST AROUND PRISCILLA
Yesterday around two o'clock, May-Britt, Liesbeth, Josselin, and I got into the car on our way to Hoofddorp. We have a (manual!) company car, which is always a bit exciting, but I've got the hang of it. With a bare-faced look (without mascara, of course), we went to visit Priscilla. In a week we're only leaving for New York, but we have to be well prepared, so this was address number one. Priscilla would give us all a set of Bambi eyes. Now I'm quite familiar with that and have already had eyelash extensions many times, but at one point I had an allergic reaction to it. I'll spare you the details, but it was absolutely not presentable, and until yesterday I was quite upset about it. That meant I had to deal with mascara every day. I still don't always do that, by the way. I'm just not very good at it.

After walking around for a while with bare eyes, suddenly there was beauty salon ByCil that promised me glue that I wouldn't have any trouble with. And of course, the entire editorial team wants stunning lashes, especially when we're in New York and there's a cameraman going along who will probably also turn on the red light when we're sitting at the breakfast table in the morning. And he thinks we always have such stunning eyes. Wonderful.
Priscilla has a small salon at home where she applies eyelash extensions, but if you happen to have something to wax or want some color on your face, that can also be done. There is a large tent in the room where you come out within 10 minutes with a sunny color on your body. “In the summer, many young girls come here before they go to a festival. Those are such fun days. I always provide some snacks and drinks. Usually, they also want a little glitter. The spray tan already has a glow, but you can make it just a bit sexier. After about 10 days, the brown color fades, so it's really suitable for a party.” Well, I'm sure that in May we'll also be standing at the door with the whole editorial team, because that sounds so fun!
That we are with the whole team somewhere else than at our own editorial office can actually only happen if there is wifi at the destination. Super-fast wifi. That was also a requirement when I made an appointment with Priscilla. “Oh, I have a spacious living room, and you can easily sit at the dining table to work.” Applying a set of lashes takes at least an hour, so that meant we were obliged to move Amayzine HQ to Hoofddorp for half a day. Not a punishment for us at all. “Make some tea, grab some cookies, take something out of the fridge.” Everything was allowed from the eyelash queen.
So you do need to take some time for it, because you lie down for quite a while with a bright lamp on your head, but you can easily fall asleep. Priscilla has a whole assortment of different lashes. Long, short, a bit curled, very curled, thick, thin. I chose a slightly longer size than my own and with a decent curl. With special glue, the new lashes are placed hair by hair between your own lashes.
They're back on. Liesbeth even said: “Ah, there she is again. Jet is back.” And so it is. And thank god these glue and I are friends. Thanks, Priscilla. You seriously solved a world problem for me. We would love to quickly move our office to you again .
