This way you have the best road trip

Today I am en route to Reims, which is a region in the north of France and maybe it will mean more to you if I say: Champagne region. Hundreds of millions of bottles of our favorite drink are shipped all over the world from here every year, and I am going to immerse myself in everything related to champagne until Saturday. More on that later, first about the journey there.

I am going to make it together with North , you know, our beloved editorial Twingo, because I love road trips. For years I have been driving with my father every summer to Tuscany and that drive alone is a highlight. So, for anyone else who has a road trip on the menu this summer, this is how it’s going to be even more fun.

Music

Make sure to have a few good playlists. I’m going to France now so I at least have a playlist with all old French chansons. You know, to get in the mood. Create them all on Spotify but don’t forget to make that list “available offline” at home first, otherwise it will cost you a lot of expensive foreign MBs and that would be a shame.

Eating

Very important. Even though I secretly love those nasty sticky sandwiches from the gas stations, nothing beats picnicking in such a silly parking spot. Really man, I think that’s great. And then everything in cool bags, boxes, and containers, laid out on a kitchen towel – vacation!

Clothing

Even if you’re going to the scorching heat, during the road trip you wear pants. You want to be able to sit a bit slouched without everyone looking at your punani and besides, it’s terribly annoying to stick your legs to the seats.

Bag for the stop

The trip to Champagne is just over four hours so we’ll drive that in one go. But to Tuscany it’s a good 16 hours, so we always did that with an overnight stay. So think a step ahead and prepare a small bag with clean underwear, pajamas, clean clothes, and the essential bathroom items for that overnight stay, so you don’t have to rummage through your entire suitcase in the parking lot and you don’t have to haul that thing inside.

Route

Of course, everything goes via the navigation. On top of that, I’m really a fool when it comes to reading maps (I always say I have other qualities) but still, there is a neatly printed route plan on the table for you never know.

Bon voyage!
