Sequin fun
Christmas calls for a sequin. According to my friend M and Fred -sequin- van Leer every day would become a lot more cheerful, but a Christmas outfit is not complete without a sparkling piece of plastic on the left and right. Are you struggling with the phenomenon of sequins? This is what you need to know.
1. Keep it simple
So one sequin object per outfit. Is it your bag, or do you choose a sequin pants? All fine. But here is the adage either-or and not and-and. Really not. Or maybe a sequin top, then jeans, and then a shoe that is carefully embellished with a sequin.
2. It can be anywhere
No outfit with a sequin? I really like it if you stick a few on your cheekbones. Just three nice red or gold sequins. Or on your hand if you are a bit more reserved. What is also nice is to sprinkle a handful of sequins over the tablecloth.
3. Little Thumb
Know that you will lose sequins anyway. I recently wore a beautiful dress by Edwin Oudshoorn and left a trail of sequins behind my train. Edwin said it didn't matter, that was part of it, and besides, I could easily find my way home.
4. Sequin and print
A sequin is already a lot and exuberant. Now there are types that embroider sequins on top of a print. I find that tricky. In this case, I would say: when in doubt, don't overtake.
What is very beautiful are sequins on a knitted sweater. I also find a top where the sequins have a color gradient stunning.
And one more thing... Sequins can also be perfectly fine during the day and outside. Dress it down a bit by combining them with ripped jeans. But this way you will keep enjoying this Christmas purchase.
