Exactly two weeks ago, she and Sheila Hill blew the roof off at our (champagne included), I was exhausted on Saturday and still dead tired on Sunday. So I took Monday off and it was quite a party. I had slept in that weekend, so on that Monday I got up pretty early (half past 9) and did whatever I felt like all day., she just returned from beautiful, snowy mountain villages for Snow Magazine and she is featured in Shopping Queens with Fred van Leer. Busy week with a weekend that needs to be celebrated.

Thank God It’s Friday, do you feel that today?

“I’ve been messaging with my girlfriends for days (I hate group chats, but this is the only group I won’t leave) about meeting up. What we were going to do remained unclear but it’s threatening to be Club Dauphine where an evening with Candy Dulfer is planned.”

And, is there something in the glass?

“Definitely. My girlfriends and I are thirsty types so we really enjoy the prosecco. I prefer that over champagne, yes, that eventually becomes too sour and too expensive for me, haha.”

For a while now, you and Sheila Hill have been a DJ duo. So you must often work on weekends.

“I’m self-employed so my workweek actually just continues into the weekend. The nice thing is that I can also book myself out on a Tuesday if I have a fun party the night before. Furthermore, I sometimes do a show for Addy van den Krommenacker and I’m busy with a new company Stateoftalent.nl where I rent out DJs, models, and other creatives.”

And that DJing. How did that come about?

“I presented for MTV for a while and met Sheila there who already had her own night at club Air. I asked if I could join her once and then she started teaching me. Three weeks later we already had our first booking. It’s born out of friendship, not planned, so we really have a great time together behind our booth. Especially when you’re DJing at multiple places in one night, it’s nice to be together. It’s a bit lonely to walk in alone.”

What does a DJ listen to themselves on the weekend?

“Depends on my mood. When I’m DJing, it’s uplifting deep-house with a cool twist, but in the car, I can listen to classical music again. That calms me down when I get annoyed by traffic. At home, I often listen to Beatport, a site where DJs drop their new tracks that I then download if I want to use them. When I go out, if I hear a good song, I turn on Shazam. If I like a song, I take a screenshot and send it to Sheila. This way, we’re actually always busy with music.”

Speaking of going out, where does Nadia Palesa eat, drink, and dance?

“I really like Bar Moustache. Also in the summer with the terrace and De Huiskamer next door. At Izakaya, I like to drink cocktails. The Pornstar Martini is the absolute best. If I feel like meat, I go to Cannibale Royale in the Handboogsteeg. They really have the best meat for a good price. On Sunday mornings, I always do boot camp in Vondelpark and afterwards we always have a drink at George W, also always a nice place. But I’m happiest when I sail with our little boat. A floating terrace and my absolute favorite spot.”

Is Sunday different from Saturday?

“On Sundays, I really don’t want to eat with acquaintances or people I don’t like that much. Sunday is my day to relax. I exercise, watch Game of Thrones, recharge for the week, eat with the people who are dear to me, and if possible, I go to bed early.”
