Just back from Mauritius and straight on to the Televizier Ring Award Gala. That was the week of Floortje Dessing who was nominated for the Silver Televizier Star. After a night of partying, it's almost the weekend now.

Do you have a Thank God It’s Friday feeling?

“Well, really a lot, thank God it’s Friday. I was incredibly busy with that gala all week. Because I enjoyed it of course, and it was exciting, but also because I'm not very good at those kinds of things and I suddenly had to find a dress. Those kinds of things. So I was dreading it, looking forward to it, and now I'm really happy it's over, that it was such a fun evening and I can now happily cut and paste in the editing.”

How was it yesterday?

“Exactly a year ago I was also nominated, but then I was watching from my hospital bed. So sitting there with my friend and colleague Hanneke next to me, with whom I have been working for fifteen years, felt really good. Before the gala started, VARA/BNN had rented a boat for the team to celebrate this nomination and the success of the program. They really didn't have to do that, but it was really nice and sweet all around.”

And your weekend, what does that look like?

“I almost never have a weekend, I'm away so much. I always have to laugh when I listen to the radio on Wednesday and hear someone say they sawed the week in half. I can't imagine anything worse than that. That you find your work so boring and count the days until it's the weekend again.

But well, if I do have a weekend, I fill it completely. Tonight I'm going, again with my buddy Hanneke, to a camerawoman we work a lot with who just had a baby. Nice baby watching and being with friends. Tomorrow I have a party with my sister and on Sunday I'm going to an ADE party.

Imagine. Earthly matters like free time, money, and time difference don't play a role, what does your ideal weekend look like?

“Well, actually a bit like the weekend I'm about to have. Being with friends, partying a bit, and if I then have some time to read a thick newspaper with a cup of coffee and can ride my bike through the city a bit, then I'm very satisfied. It's just a bit of a shame that it's so gray now.”

But something tells me you're moving towards the sun again soon.

“On Wednesday we fly to Nepal where we are making a very nice story about a young woman who has adopted thirty children. I'm really curious about that.”
