Make-up bag:

Malu Kirschbaum

When you see Malu walking by, you think you're dealing with a Parisienne: her long legs with which she makes a graceful walk (those mademoiselles do that too, just pay attention), her always stylish but never too extravagant outfit and of course her flawless face. Because this freelance fashion, beauty, and lifestyle journalist has an enviable look au naturel. “I indeed never wear much makeup, I really love basic. Especially in the summer, when I have a tan, I don't even use foundation. I am very loyal to my eyeliner, highlighter, and eyelash curler. Oh yes, and I pluck my eyebrows every single day. Even during the Fusion Festival in Germany, where I just came from. I think this is really a kind of addiction for me, haha. So I keep my face very calm, but I do love to pop with a nice lipstick.” Oh yeah, when I hear pop and lipstick, I’m already in a good mood.

Indeed, Madame Malu has the same bag as May-Britt. That’s a good sign. I see a neat thing with quality stuff, such as:

See, Malu gets it again. She has exactly one product of each makeup basic. With the exception of the lipsticks, she has no less than two of those. Another lesson for me: more is not always better.

The Éclat is fantastic, I already knew that. The eyeliner from L’Oréal is also very nice. It goes on in just one second. As a fanatic line drawer I can certainly appreciate that. Malu uses her eyelash curler every day, so I guess I have to get used to it too. Although I swore off such a curler years ago because I used to pull out all my eyelashes in one go with my teenage and ignorant head. But alright, I am now more adult and more skilled, and Malu has instructed me well. And lo and behold, without even one swipe of mascara, my eyelashes actually stand out and look longer. Maybe I’ll keep that in. I use the Burberry foundation, which I apply with a brush from Leco, according to Malu a nice specimen. She is right, the brush is nice to use and distributes the foundation evenly. But unfortunately, the color is too light for me, so I quickly wipe away that ghostly look. I’m excited to use that very interesting Bobbi Brown jar. It’s a creamy substance with a shimmer. “I use it as a highlighter above my eyes.” I get that, Malu. My arches are immediately accentuated and feel nice and soft. I use Malu’s lipstick with her name on it. Hello, I want this too! It’s a beautiful deep and matte color, without feeling dry. With some leftover white from the foundation, I look for a good bronzer to give myself a bit of a tan. Unfortunately, Malu doesn’t have that. Then I’ll go for rosy cheeks that I create with the blush stick from Estée. Very handy because it doesn’t need a brush. I put two stripes on my cheekbones and I’m ready to go!

Rihanna doesn’t tell Beyoncé how to sing either, so I don’t really have much to say to fellow beauty writer Malu. She knows her brands and products and as a French-looking lady, she actually needs nothing. Tiny tip: use a lip liner in the same color for those beautiful bright lipsticks of yours. This keeps everything in place and you can also create a fuller lip with it. And can you arrange a lipstick with my name for me, Malu? Thanks!
