This is what you wear to the beach

It may be less divine today than yesterday, but it's going to be a sun-soaked summer so the dress code for the beach is of vital importance.

No heels

I also like to elevate myself ten centimeters. It makes me look slimmer, more feminine, and you also train your glutes in the process. But on the beach, it just doesn't look good. Where you hope that a heel gives you height, it works the opposite here because you sadly sink between the grains. Opt for a nice sandal. You can find those at Zara and I'm in love with my Gucci's.

The good old slipper remains a good idea. Have you heard of O’Bacana ? They are just too cute and affordable. Or you can skip to the Chanel boutique, grab those amazing flip-flops from the closet, whip out your credit card, blink three times, and you are the queen of the coast.

Furthermore, the espadrille remains an ideal shoe. You can easily slip them on, they look dressed up, and they are super comfortable. This summer, almost every major label has its own espadrille. I'm still in love with my Chanel espadrilles, Josselin bought the Kenzo variant, and when I walk past the Dolce & Gabbana store and see them lying there again, I grab them.

If you really, really, really want to wear a heel, then you choose a wedge. Kate Middleton did that once, so it’s allowed.

To jewel or not to jewel

I absolutely love jewelry. My Cartier rings that I received from my love and my Bvlgari ring are definitely staying on, no matter what. You should leave your watch at home etiquette-wise. The same rule applies at the beach as at a gala; you’re having fun and time doesn’t matter. So no watch. Moreover, you can also check the time on your phone. My problem now is that I've created such a white band where my watch used to be. I then throw a wooden bracelet around it, which is allowed.

Furthermore, the advice is to leave diamonds and other flashy sparkles at home. Opt for matte jewelry, cords, necklaces made of shells or beads. Think primal and organic and not too much embellishment.

Then the makeup

Many of my friends prefer to go to the beach completely pure and natural. I find that difficult. With a little help, I just look a lot better. So I opt for a basic makeup. I don’t use foundation but the Phyto Touche from Sisley for a small, covering layer and a bronzing effect. Furthermore, I define my eyebrows well with the powder and brow gel from Anastacia, use mascara (no eyeliner), and blush with the new blush stick from Les Beiges by Chanel. Actually, the entire Les Beiges line is perfect for the beach. The powder, the nude polishes, the lip gloss, the foundation. Just for the scent alone but certainly also for the result.

Be careful with perfume

Of course, you want to smell nice at the beach, but many perfumes can cause pigmentation spots in combination with the sun. Be careful with that. Some perfumes are suitable, such as the good old Sun by Jil Sander (still a favorite) and the scents from Biotherm. The latter are also very natural and fit perfectly with summer days. If you want to be safe, buy a hair perfume. Or you spray your own perfume on your hair and clothes.

Sequin ban

Everything that shines and glitters, I would leave at home and save for the evening. Sequins and other evening-breathing clothing items, that is. White lace is perfect this summer, and I find fine Missoni-like prints super chic at the beach. Furthermore, the Breton stripe is always good everywhere, and I swear by short denim shorts with a simple top.

I wish you the most beautiful summer.
