WITH THIS YOU IMPRESS

your new in-laws during Christmas

Okay, you will soon sit at the table with your new in-laws. Super fun, but also super exciting. It may even be that you haven't seen them before and that this will be the big test. Arriving empty-handed is not classy and not practical, because you can score points right away with a really good gift. I’ll give you some ideas to become an instant favorite daughter-in-law. And oh yes, for the nerves, I would just down a glass of champagne as quickly as possible.

  • Get to know your new in-laws a bit, ask your boyfriend what kind of wine they like, what music they listen to, or maybe there’s a specific book that’s still on their wish list. With that information, you can definitely find something nice. Feel free to browse Facebook (if they have it) to get to know them better.
  • Wrap the gift incredibly beautifully so that it shows effort has been put in and include a personally written card. “I have been looking forward to this evening to meet you and to get to know the parents of the sweetest boyfriend in the world better.” Something like that.
  • Give something fun to do instead of giving an object. For example, a nice high wine, or a high tea but with wine. Say that you’re taking them out, then you immediately have an outing to get to know them better without a lot of other people around. Let’s hope you have somewhat pleasant in-laws. I think this will also impress your boyfriend.
  • Think of something they can use right away the next day. Freshly ground coffee from a good coffee shop, Christmas tea, or homemade granola for breakfast, for example.
