TOPMODEL LOIZA IS ROLMODEL
Dear Loiza,
Tonight you told RTL Boulevard that you were a boy when you were younger. No, I’m saying that wrong. You were not a boy. You were a girl who had chosen the wrong body. Maybe you chose the wrong body; in terms of family, you couldn't have done better. Your parents understood you when you told them in kindergarten that you preferred playing with girls rather than boys. In fact, you wanted to be with the girls. You wanted to belong to their group and not with the boys.
Together with your parents, you walked your path. And eventually, you found your body. Your incredibly beautiful body.
Tonight you told the Netherlands about your journey. Fred confided in you at the beginning of our recordings. Anouk, Freek, Dirk, the other girls, and I were called together much later (for which I am grateful because that allowed us to judge you all that time as a girl and not as transgender) to listen to your life story that began with the sentence; “I may have had a slightly different childhood than most of you…”
From that moment on, I could not imagine every time I saw you that Loiza was ever Lucas.
I believe I took Anouk's hand. Tears came and goosebumps (at a temperature of 35 degrees, that is quite remarkable) because we knew how difficult your path must have been. From that moment on, I could not imagine every time I saw you that Loiza was ever Lucas.
Dear Loiza, whether you will receive the title of top model, nobody knows. But you have already earned another title; role model.
And that, that might be the most beautiful thing you can achieve.
