On trainer hunt in NYC

Josselin and I had purposely left a bit of space in our suitcases, to go wild in Nike Town or any other trainer shop in New York. We had to bring at least two pairs of new trainers back to the Netherlands. Of course we had a very busy schedule with lots of appointments and shows, but still we managed - on the day Liesbeth and May-Britt went to New York - to get at least two pairs. the show of Victoria Beckham went- on a trainer hunt. Not knowing that this was the áller, Àrst day of the week, but anyway, anything for our great love (the trainer). So we packed thick and both of us took a camera with us to capture our trainer tour. It was seriously taxi in taxi out just to be outside as little as possible, because also with gloves to froze our fingers off and it was sometimes even impossible to press the record button. But it worked. The video and the shoes.

Our favourite trainer shops in NYC:

Nike Town

This is about the first shop I visit in a foreign city. I always buy new tights there anyway, a nice shirt to train in and I check for trainers I haven't seen in the Netherlands. Josselin and I arrived at the moment suprème, as a new trainer was just launched, so there was a huge queue (remember it was -26) in which we had to join at the back. Luckily, we didn't have to wait very long and everyone was able to storm in when they were allowed. The trainer (some kind of silver basketball shoes) was sold out within a minute, which we both really couldn't understand at all. Fortunately, there was a lot of what we did like. Nike Town so, go there.

21 Mercer Nike

This is a shop that only sells very exclusive Nike items. Just a bit different from what you would see at any other sports shop. Also all a tad more expensive by the way. Josselin had a huge success here on the last day of our trip.

By the way, Mercer Street (where the shop is so) I think is one of the nicest and most beautiful streets in New York. Shops like Page, Maje, Alexander Wang are located there. And then do lunch at Mercer Kitchen. Also a very nice place.

KITH

There is one in Manhattan and one in Brooklyn. Prefer Manhattan. You have a bit more choice there too. Now I'm partial to Nike there, but there are also some really cool other brands and models here. From Adidas to Asics to New Balance.

644 Broadway (at Bleecker St.)

Alife Rivington Club

Here, you immediately feel that you have entered one of the most exclusive trainer clubs. Are you interested in Jordans? Here they have the most special (and expensive, ahem) ones.

158 Rivington Street

Flight Club NY

Last but not least. Here, the amount of trainers on the wall will make you nauseous and dizzy. Try walking back out of here without buying anything. I dare you.
