Yes, I am a festival prostitute and I am proud of it. But one party does stand out with its made-up face above all the festivities, namely the extravagant Milkshake Festival. A big spectacle where everyone ‘can love without boxes and boundaries.’ It is an indescribably free feeling that surrounds Milkshake, because it really doesn't matter how you show up and whether you are he, she, bi, or trans. That makes Milkshake the first truly liberal festival in the world.

So if you feel like dancing exuberantly (or modestly, that's fine too), spotting the most sparkling glitter appearances, or seeing legendary photographer Erwin Olaf in his naughty DJ act, then you definitely have to join me this Sunday. Oh yes, there is also a Wedding Chapel, so you can finally marry your great love. Or your cat, or yourself, whoever you want.

And of course, you understand that I make quite a project out of my outfit, right? You can do that too, but you don't have to.

We have already talked about the now world-famous NikkieTutorials on YouTube, in which a top Dutch makeup artist shows amazing makeup transformations. For Milkshake, I also want such an amazing over-the-top pink smoky eye with matching lips. Because if it can happen anywhere, it’s at a festival where rainbows fly around you. And now I could get all wise and tell you how I’m going to do it, but you can also watch Nikkie’s tutorial , like I did. The products I used are:

  • As a base eyeshadow, the pink Silk Effect by Collistar (color number 73). This leaves a nice soft shine on the eye. I use the two outer colors of the palette for all the pink on the eye. The inner color serves as a highlighter on the inside.
  • For the dark purple color that Nikkie applies, I use Feel the Fever by M.A.C.
  • As kohl under the eyes, I use the new eyeliner gel from Rimmel. This is waterproof, so it will hold up when I go hopping around a lot.
  • I don't use false eyelashes like Nikkie, because I can't handle them well. Instead, I opt for a good volumizing mascara from Max Factor. Because it has two brushes, you really get that fake lashes effect.
  • I'm not very experienced in contouring yet, so I’ll skip that. I do use a blush, the one from YSL, which I apply generously.
  • I use the Rouge Allure lipstick from Chanel (number 109), because it applies the lipstick precisely, so you don't necessarily need a lip liner.

This is what it’s all about! I get to unpack again, yay. I once had this pink dress made to my own design for a champagne brand I worked for at the time, and I can't imagine a more suitable outfit for Sunday. It is certainly eye-catching.

How do you make it yourself? Your base is a tight bodycon dress, like this from Asos. You then wear a petticoat over it, like this the one from Topvintage. Cool, right? Because the dress stands out enough and I also have to go for comfort, I wear simple gladiator sandals from Mango.

See you Sunday!
