WHAT DO I EAT DURING

Liesbeth and I are flying tomorrow to New York. For days we have been trying on different outfits in front of the mirror, Liesbeth has already sat on her suitcase thirty times to get it closed (but I'm afraid some shoes will still have to come out) and our toiletry bags are so overstuffed, it makes no sense at all. At least we are prepared. I might be a little more so, because I also like to fill my carry-on bag with treats. I'm really sorry, but airplane food is just not good. And it seriously has nothing to do with the fact that I'm such a (annoying) healthy girl who pulls out her Tupperware containers. I really don't like it. So yes, there I am, with my Tupperware containers. Liesbeth, on the other hand, is really looking forward to her plastic tray with four compartments. What I can tell you is that I arrive much fitter when I bring my own food. There is so much salt in airplane food that you retain water. Often you also have a.

bloated feelingor suffer from gas (excuse me), which all comes from the food and makes you suffer much more from jet lag. But anyway, to the point. This is what I usually bring, which is also customs-proof. (Spelt) crackers.

If you want, you can combine them with the piece of plastic cheese (if Lies has not stolen it from you) that is in the top right corner of the compartment. Or you can throw a bit of hummus in a small container and take that with you in your bag. Make sure you bring everything in less than 100 ml, otherwise it goes in the trash at customs.

Boiled eggs.

They are very filling and don't smell either. Handy. There is always a bit of salt and pepper in the plastic with your cutlery.

A bag of nuts.

Fills well and is also nice with a beer. Oh no, water is actually the best. Drink a lot of water throughout the flight.

DoorMeal.

I saw on Instagram that my colleague healthy girls Daisy from I love Health and Jenny from Healthyfans had ordered a meal from DoorMeal. Everything went through customs without a hitch. They brought rice with shrimp and vegetables. Sounds great to me.

A slice of cake.

I really love banana bread. It's actually not bread, but more like a cake. You can find the recipe here. Super filling, healthy (!) and it takes up little space in your bag. Oh well, just bring extra, your neighbor will definitely want a piece.

Bars.

Then you can also grab a few bars. Always nice to take on vacation.

Tea.

You also have that on the plane, but often you get that very strong, almost black tea. I don't find that very pleasant. Bring your own bags and ask for some hot water. Oh well, you have to make a bit of a party out of it, right?

Oh yes, another tip from Jet: drink half a liter of coconut water before you board the plane. It's super hydrating and prevents dehydration when you're in the air. Because it's dry up there, you know. That already cuts your jet lag in half.
