What to do with melon
Yesss, we are all going to enjoy melon again. Watermelon, cantaloupe, galia, I actually don't care, they all make me happy. You know, when you're about to buy one, first smell the bottom to see if it really smells like melon. If it does, then it's good. Delicious with freshly sliced parma ham (you could even grill the galia melon for that), a drizzle of olive oil, a really good ball of mozzarella and you have the tastiest summer starter that exists.
Pink smoothie (a very thick one, so a perfect breakfast)
What do you need and how do you make it?
half a banana
a handful of blueberries
a large piece of watermelon
large tablespoon of Greek yogurt or quark
teaspoon of flaxseed (good for digestion!)
Put all the ingredients in a blender and mix them together. Pour it into a glass and you're done.
Salad
You might think: that's a bit of a weird combo, but watermelon and feta go really well together. Cut both into small cubes and put them in a bowl. Then add some arugula, a bit of olive oil, salt, and pepper and the summer salad is ready to serve.
Melon granita
Oh this is so my favorite. Blend a melon into a puree in the blender (you can choose which type). Add a little lime juice, coconut water, mint, and for the real adventurer, some lavender. Put that in a large container, place it in the freezer and scrape everything loose after half an hour. It's ready in about four hours. So it's a bit of work. And if you want your guests to go even crazier, add a splash of vodka. But maybe you had that idea yourself too.
