May's summer fashion wishlist
It's always a bit of a paradoxical split. The moment it really starts to become summer for us (yes really? Yes really!), the summer clothes are already hanging in the sale. Annoying for the retailers but extra nice for us because now it's time to stock up. I so then go for these essentials that absolutely breathe summer 2015.
Comfort and femininity, look, that's what I love. The sandal is of course the epitome of summer, but since I am 1 meter 3, it's not my ideal shoe for, say, a party. Enter; the block heel sandal. Then you go up in the air, and you also stand incredibly comfortably so you can easily hang out for an hour longer under the lights.
The return of the flared jeans is a celebration. It sits nicely high at the waist (so you no longer have that problem with that unflattering builder's cleavage) and it makes your legs super long. A nice simple blouse on top, block heel or pump underneath and you're ready. But because I a. think you should buy at least two things each season that are outside your comfort zone and b. because small flowers are 'a thing', my lovely floral flared goes in the bag. A white or ecru blouse on top and nothing more to do. Such a classy dress that immediately makes you think of a picnic in the hills of Wales. But then with all the trendy girls on the blanket.
from whom you would want to steal all their clothes. The tea dress is such a blouse dress with a nice loose and low neckline made of a flowing fabric that comes to your knees. You give it some character by adding a belt and a long pendant around your neck gives the neckline an extra frame. Make sure to have a long sleeve to keep it from being too sexy. And then a comfortable sandal underneath heels and hills remain a tricky combination.; Such nonsense that you wouldn't need to wear a jacket in the summer. You might not always need it, but outfit-wise it's just so nice to walk in somewhere with a jacket. I find a long sleeveless blazer ideal. On a warm day, you wear it over your summer outfit (for example, culottes with a sleeveless top) and if it gets a bit cooler, you put a long-sleeved sweater underneath. Just be careful; a T-shirt really looks very silly underneath.
Liesbeth was at Bill Cunningham last week.
and after lying awake for two nights about the perfect suit, she chose a white lace skirt. “White is really becoming a thing in fashion ” Bill noted. And because Bill decides and because I also find white lace beautiful, that will soon go into my basket via orter.com.,”It's always a bit of a paradoxical split.
