YOU HAVE TO SEE
– Maestro Marcello –
Once, when life was good and sweet, my love and I lived in Rome. Just half a year, but I still thrive on it. We learned the language, gained three kilos, and took a course on Italian cinema.
There was a time in Italian cinema when every female lead was played by Sophia Loren and every male role was portrayed by Marcello Mastroiani. I didn't mind, because Marcello Mastroiani (you probably know him as the photographer Paparazzo in Fellini’s ‘La dolce vita’) is one of the most handsome men our dear Lord has given us.
When you consider that he also married Catherine Deneuve and they had a daughter together (Chiara Mastroiani) whose Dior bag I possess (read here how it ended up in my greedy hands), you understand that Marcello and I are just incredibly connected. When I roll home tonight from our party, I will enjoy a lovely hour on the couch reminiscing about Marcello Mastroiani, for whom Avro is airing a documentary in Close Up.
