Oh dear. Summer is over. CRYING. But there is hope, in the form of these 22 reasons why you could theoretically miss summer like a toothache. Just hold on to it. Until it's spring again!
1. This one is of course easy: your sunglasses no longer slide off your head.
2. This one is also very easy: you no longer have sand in your ear from the beach.
3. You no longer have to look at people on the terrace. People who have a spot in the sun and you do NOT.
4. Your phone can no longer overheat.
5. You no longer have to be afraid that someone invites you for a camping trip.
6. You no longer have to be afraid that it will be a bad summer, because it's already over.
7. You can just stay home in the evenings again, because there’s nothing to do in the city anyway.
8. You no longer have to worry about ordering the wrong summer drink. Red wine rules.
9. You can go back to the gym, because it’s not weather to have a drink on the terrace after work anyway. Oh wait, that’s a downside. Let’s try again.
9. It’s no longer too hot to shop.
10. It’s no longer weird to watch Christmas movies.
11. You get pale again. And pale is very chic. This has traditionally to do with the fact that you apparently didn’t have to work in the fields.
12. You no longer have to be jealous of all those people barbecuing in the park while you of course have to work.
14. You no longer have to wear a bikini. Or excuse yourself for a swimsuit. It remains a relief.
15. The wasps are gone. Just like the mosquitoes. Admittedly, sometimes a few mosquitoes linger in your house. That’s quite annoying.
16. You no longer have to freeze ice cubes every day.
17. You also don’t have to water the (neighbors') plants every day. Or feel guilty that you forgot to water the (neighbors') plants again.
18. Your chocolate bar no longer melts.
19. It’s high time for a whole new wardrobe.
20. It’s also high time to buy Christmas gifts for yourself. The fun things are always sold out quickly.

22. And last but not least: it’s of course also time to curl up with whiskey by the fireplace. Well, a bit of a hip fireplace of course, like the one at the newly opened Hotel V on Fizeaustraat. I’m telling you: you might almost feel like autumn. Almost.
