4 X new restaurants in the city
As a foodie and early adopter, I keep a close eye on new restaurant openings. On the big chalkboard at home (yes, we have such a ridiculously bourgeois chalkboard in the kitchen) are the 'restaurants-we-still-need-to-eat-at'. Are you also someone like that? Then add these restaurants to your to-eat list. Happyhappyjoyjoy.
Maybe
you have been here once before on the Bilderdijk. This restaurant is packed every day, so it's no surprise that Julius Jaspers decided to open a second location. Namely at the IJ, in the building of Panama. A bit of a bike ride (well, it depends on where you're coming from), but you also get a huge terrace in return. With (Chinese) lanterns. Perfect for a sultry summer evening. The menu features dozens of Asian snacks. Work in stages and eat slowly, because before you know it, it's all gone. Meneer Nieges has opened in a place where not every hospitality venue succeeds. Now it's up to Meneer Nieges to make a success of it here. They have my blessing. You can compare it a bit to Hannekes Boom (not surprising, as Meneer Nieges is from the same owners). There is a large terrace, it's by the water, and very hip Amsterdam is flocking here to drink a cold beer. A cozy, messy atmosphere with a nice (culinary!) menu. Is it warm in the city? Go to Nieges.

”SNCKBR”
I can't remember the last time I walked into a snack bar. Okay, only for a pack of gum. Unless it's SNCKBR: one of the healthiest snack bars in Amsterdam. You can order healthy frikadel (I still need to try this), spelt pita bread, and low-fat pizza. On weekends, it's open until 3:00 AM. The interior looks nothing like a normal snack bar with fluorescent lights, but rather like a super cool lunchroom. Great for a small bite before you head to the movies or a birthday party, for example.
The sister (or brother) of Rijsel (one of my favorite restaurants in the city), Scheepskameel, has just opened in an old household school. The interior is simple, white, and has high ceilings. If you want to reserve a table, it's best to book a few weeks in advance. Really popular. The menu has no frills. Exactly what I love. Lots of raw fish, raw meat, and raw vegetables.
