5 X WHY SOLANGE IS COOLER THAN BIG SIS BEYONCÉ
I'm definitely not making any new friends today, but it must be said: Solange Knowles is a badass. And maybe even a bigger badass than her big sister Beyoncé. There. I said it. Just like with the Hadid sisters, where I'm more team Bella than Gigi, I'm more team Solange than Beyoncé in the Knowles family. And after last weekend, where I had her new album on repeat non-stop, I'm sure of it: Solange is my new Queen B. Or yes, Queen S then. And this is why:
1. Her new album
Just like her big sister, Solange surprised the world with a new album ‘A Seat at the Table’. A mix of old school R&B music, a bit of soul, and a touch of punk, as Solange herself puts it. And to make it just a bit more personal for her fans, she decided to surprise 86 of them (well, surprise, surprise, they could sign up for this) with a pre-release of her album, including a book full of poems written by the singer herself. 2. Her lyrics
‘Me and my ladies sip my d’ussé cups, I don’t give a f*ck chucking my deuces up.’ Pardon? Now my English is generally fine, but what this exactly means… No idea. Of course, Queen B also has lyrics with substance, but mini-Yoncé Solange has a whole album dedicated to issues like race, culture, and mental health. More power to you, Solange!

3. Her style
No bodysuits and skin-tight outfits that almost no one can pull off, but just lots of color and funky outfits that make you feel intensely happy. Black is hardly present in her wardrobe. Now I know Kiki is very team Bey, but style-wise, I think we're talking about a match made in heaven.
4. Her hair
She embraces her natural curly mane. And rightfully so, because hallelujah, she has beautiful hair. And sure, there are occasionally some weaves involved, but those curls are all natural, baby.
5. Her confidence
I imagine it must be quite difficult to always be known as ‘the sister of’, but Solange has never had a problem with that. She does exactly what she enjoys, whether she has millions of fans or just a few. By the way, do you know what makes Solange so great? She is such a mega fan of her own sister that she is always found right in the middle of The Beyhive with the rest of the fans during performances. Nothing backstage, just happily screaming among the other Beyoncé enthusiasts. I love it.
