5X MAGIC DRINKS AGAINST
THE SNIFFLES
Yes, I'm back, the chief of team snot. Although a cold has nothing to do with the cold, those runny noses often come around when winter approaches. We hide every day in the same scarf, sitting sniffling and sneezing next to each other in a warm, damp tram, and the windows remain tightly shut. And these are all places where bacteria can nest. Now, of course, we would love to hide between the sheets when we feel a cold coming on, but unfortunately, this isn't always possible. A large bottle of water on your desk is my golden tip, as a good moisture balance ensures optimal functioning of the lymphatic system. And that plays an important role in defense against viruses and bacteria.
If you're really feeling miserable, more is needed than just a glass of tap water. In that case, you might as well get started with one of the magic drinks below. Not all of them are equally tasty, but they do give your body the boost it needs.
1. Turmeric
In the spirit of prevention being better than cure, this is a very nice drink to keep all that nonsense at bay. You need to get used to the taste, but you'll see that when you stick with this for a week, your body will recover. Make sure to add the following ingredients to your shopping list, because you'll be grateful for this. A glass of hot water, two teaspoons of turmeric, a cinnamon stick, a piece of grated fresh ginger, a bag of chamomile tea, half a lemon, a teaspoon of honey, and a pinch of black pepper. Mix and drink as warm as possible.
“What a healthy bunch we are, huh.”
2. Ginger tea
Here at the editorial office, about half a meter of fresh ginger is cut daily and liters of hot water are boiled. Fresh ginger helps against nausea, warms your body (for example, when the heating isn't working again, haha), stimulates the digestive tract, and also has anti-inflammatory properties. What a healthy bunch we are, huh.
3. Vitamin boost
For this boost, you need a juicer. This is a delicious refreshing drink to start the day with, and you'll see that you feel a lot better when you've had this. Put the following in the juicer: a teaspoon of turmeric powder (turmeric is really a miracle cure, Marion already told you about that earlier), a piece of fresh ginger, a small red chili (without seeds, otherwise you'll curse me), two carrots, a sweet potato, an orange, half an unpeeled lemon, and a spoonful of honey.
4. Green juice
Keeping your resistance up is now the most important thing. This is the perfect juice for that. Nice and fresh and provides a good boost. Put a fresh piece of fennel, an apple, a piece of cucumber, a stalk of celery, the juice of a lemon, and a thumb of ginger in the juicer. You can also make a double amount right away, as it keeps well in the fridge.
5. Grog
For me, this is really nostalgia: grog. This grandmother's recipe keeps bacteria at bay. Take a glass of boiling water, some freshly squeezed lemon and orange juice, a generous splash of cognac, rum, or whiskey, and some honey. It's better to drink this before you go to sleep and not when you still have to go to work.
