6x how to stop making bad purchases during sales

Dive into your wardrobe. Bet you own dozens of clothing items that are just dead weight? A case of buyer's remorse. Especially during the sale period. I had a closet detox last week (check it here) and it was quite enlightening. And that's why: 6 tips for a summer wardrobe with only truly nice clothes.

1. Stop chasing bargains

Most of the clothing items I found on the floor with price tags still attached all came from the sale. For a tenner, it's easy to be persuaded. But will you wear it? Or do you want it just for the ‘have’ because it costs ten euros and is pretty okay? Take a moment to think about it in the store and you'll buy half as much. Really.

2. A tip from Sander: ‘Kiki, maybe just stop looking at the price.’

And that theory from my guy isn't even that crazy. “Because then you stop with all those bargains. Don't look at the price tag, and only if you find something really, really beautiful and you don't care how much you have to pay for it, then you know this is a keeper.” Ha, just don't let me loose in the Chanel store, San.

3. Invest in designer items

May has understood this for years. And yes, you might pay a bit more, but that expensive bag elevates every outfit and you'll enjoy it for a lifetime. And then you won't have to keep buying those meh pieces that you'll be tired of after a season.

4. You can also completely skip the sale...

But only for the real daredevils, huh... Okay, never mind. This point is too difficult. I get it.

5. Doubtful items go in a box

Do you find it hard to part with old loves? Then put the clothes you're unsure about in a box. If you haven't looked at them in six months, you've actually already distanced yourself from them in your mind. The chance that you'll wear them again is quite small.

6. Buy luxurious hangers

The organization of your closet is super important and good hangers are a must. Besides: with sturdy beautiful hangers, probably only the real gems will fit in your closet. Say goodbye to your clutter, hello summer closet detox!
