7 X WHY YOU WANT TO GO TO THE CONCOURS D’ELEGANCE
Next weekend (on Saturday July 2 and Sunday July 3), the runners will be rolled out at Palace Het Loo and on behalf of our friends from Renault (the rhyme is purely coincidental), I invite you there immensely. Because car parties are super fashionable, you should know. And fun. And here’s why.
1. It is super fashionable
I already said that, but it is true. Long before there were fashion weeks, there were already car shows. Because in the late nineteenth century, only the rich could enjoy the pleasure of a car, they liked to show off a bit more and score ‘oh's’ and ‘ah's’. They did this by organizing concours d’elegances where people could admire their cars. And to liven things up a bit, mannequins were brought in. And clothing. Loads of couture. Even now, everyone pulls out their smartest suit from the closet and there are also many small pop-up stalls with accessories and fashionable goods at this concours.
2. You can peek inside the palace
Looking at cars, staring at people, showing off your suit and also just popping into the palace. So I really want to look at Bernhard's wing and Juul's and then I will sit there and fantasize about how it all was back then. With Greet Hofmans and the illegitimate children and everything that comes with it.
3. It is also a food event
Everywhere on the grounds you will find food trucks, so you have your own Rolling Keulens. How about fries from a classic food truck from the sixties?
4. He likes this too
You will make your beloved very happy with this outing. Renault is showcasing a selection of special models from their rich 115-year motorsport history. The first Grand Prix car from Renault will pass by, but also the Renault 40 CV and the Nervasport will get a beautiful stage. And of course, the more modern sports models cannot be missed. It tastes much better than your standard trip to the city. And if you have children (or nephews, nieces, illegitimate kids, and neighborhood kids), they are also very welcome.
5. You can dress up
Well, not as a clown or anything, but the organization would love it if you show up in a suitable outfit. So skirts, long gloves, and hats can all come out of the closet. Think Downton Abbey. Very Downton Abbey.
6. Do it for the picnic baskets
If you have a classic car or can borrow one for a day, you can park for free on the grounds where the most beautiful classic cars are. You can also buy picnic baskets on the grounds so you can have lunch next to your vehicle.
7. And there is also...
...art, jewelry, fashion shows, live music, and fun things for the kids. And I will be there... So if I see you, we’ll have an iced tea.
