8 STYLE LESSONS YOU CAN
LEARN FROM OLIVIA PALERMO
Fashion month is starting again and that means a lot of Olivia Palermo in even more enviable outfits. Don't be jealous, just watch and imitate. Your motto: if you can peek, then peek along.
A person can't be too thin
Don't all get incredibly angry at me now, I'm not saying it. And neither is Olivia. It was her stylist Rachel Zoe who said that clothes can be so cool, they only really look good if you have size zero. Olivia has obediently done that and I must say (don’t hate me, don’t kill me): slim looks good on her.
Get a belt
If you ask Olivia what she would take to a deserted island, she would definitely answer: the belt. It would even give her naked body an instant fashion lift. Just imagine it and Olivia will wrap a little belt around it. Blazers, long blouses, and even a bulky, padded parka become fashion-proof by tying a slim and narrow belt around it.
The butterfly glasses
Olivia has hundreds of sunglasses in many colors and styles, but her signature model is definitely the butterfly frame.
Say it with shoes
No matter how casual the outfit is, Olivia's shoes are always eye-catchers. That makes everything ‘a look’. Olivia is not afraid of a striking shoe with lots of colors, laces, and details. That also explains her friendship with Edgardo Rosario, the designer of Aquazzura.
Invest in a white shirt
Over a long skirt (I'll get to that) or over faded jeans, tied with a bow around the collar or under a jacket; the white shirt is always good.
Long live the long skirt
Here it is. A long skirt makes you feminine and dressed but is also wonderfully comfortable and you can easily wear flat ballerinas underneath. Ideal when you're crossing the streets of New York.
Invest in a leopard ballerina
Because a ballerina is just so boring, Olivia advises choosing one (or actually two) in a print. Your look only ends at your feet, so make sure to surprise and refresh there. With such a ballerina, the rest can be simple. Check the jeans, check the white shirt, check the sunglasses, and oh yes, that little belt.
Your most beautiful accessory
That is and remains a handsome man. In her case, husband Johannes Huebl. She doesn't tie a strap around him, but a bow.
