8 tricks to spruce up your kitchen
You know, I have only been busy decorating a house for the past few weeks, I devour decorating magazines, browse Pinterest, and check daily on home sites if the discount is a bit higher than the day before. Money does not grow on my back, but I want to do everything right away and make the house look like a super luxurious mansion, so my bargain nose is sharp. I find the kitchen one of the most important parts, of course. It is a rental house, so we can't change too much, and it's also a shame to invest a lot of money in it if it's not really yours. But there are certainly nice tricks that can create a whole change immediately. Here they come:
– Replace cabinets with shelves. I did that too, and it's a world of difference. It looks bigger and fresher.
– What you can also do is demolish the doors of the (upper) cabinets. Buy nice jars and fun containers. And all the ugly bags and packs where dry goods are stored can go into a nice jar. Looks nice.
– Replace the handles of your kitchen cabinets. You immediately have a different kitchen.
– Maybe you have a white wall left over. Paint a chalkboard on it. You can buy special paint for that. Tape off a large square and just color it in. This can also be done on a door, of course.
– Ask a handy nice man to attach a small rail to your kitchen wall. With meat hooks, you can hang kitchen utensils and wooden boards, etc. It also looks nice.
– I am addicted to dim light. I always want that kind of lamps in every room. It immediately creates atmosphere when you turn the knob a little softer. Also very nice in the bathroom, I can tell you. Especially in the morning, showering in not too bright light is a great way to wake up.
– Work with herb plants. Buy an elongated flower box and plant some basil, coriander, and chives in it. Place the box in daylight, preferably by the window, and give it a little (lukewarm!) water every day. Nice to cook with, gives off a wonderful scent, and it also looks cozy.
– Spend a little money on a nice hand soap dispenser. You can buy one at Zara Home where you pour soap into, or go to a chic cosmetic store (Babassu or Skins Cosmetics for example) to buy one there.
– Hang up a clipboard somewhere where you keep nice recipes that you tear out or have printed.
