9 X WHY MAY IS LOOKING FORWARD TO NEW YORK
On a day like today, I do feel like a privileged bitch, as my friend M. calls it. Going to New York for work. And work then is groping and fondling the coolest looks we are going to walk in next spring (I am already looking forward to it NOW). And to do it all in New York. No punishment, I would say.
1. The flight
I love flying (and so have no fear of flying). And especially a long intercontinental flight. That fits exactly three films and two glasses of wine. I spin.
2. The heat
It's 30 degrees in New York. Now some people at the support and groan foundation think that is way too hot and muggy, but I just love it. Bring on that sun on my skin. Soon I will have to miss it for a very long time, after all.
3. The new faces
My good friend Micha of Micha Models is growing them somewhere, I think, because every year she comes out with a battalion of fresh, pretty and tall. This year, she again has girls that überstylist Karl Templer seems to be getting all restless, and Ashley Brokaw too has already skimmed all the big Dutch agencies for ‘our’ pretty girls.
After all, I am jet-lagged and have nothing better to do at 05:00 in the morning
4. Sanne
Remember, Sanne de Roo, one of the finalists of Holland's Next Top Model two years ago? She is going to make her NYFW debut and of course I will be cheering her on incredibly.
5. Gigi and Tommy
You must have already seen the commercial featuring Gigi Hadid touting her collection for Tommy Hilfiger. I am going to a press conference with Gigi and Tommy tomorrow morning and in the evening to the show that we a. stream live on the site and b. all the items of which you can buy online immediately. So that really is unique. Normally you get tasty and then have to wait six months. Top of Tommy.
6. Backstage snooping
Even more fun than watching the show itself is walking around backstage. Seeing what the models' real clothes are, asking what they read, where they sleep, talking to the make-up artists or the stylist and designer themselves. That's where everything comes about and that process is perhaps even more exciting than the end result.
7. Running in Central Park
After all, I'm jet-lagged and have nothing better to do at 05.00 in the morning. Hup, into the park, that's nice.
8. Facebook Live
If it matches a bit with the time difference and I have good wifi, I will take you live to the spectacular events via Facebook Live.
9. Dream Hotel
And especially the rooftop of the Dream Hotel. Laptop open and write, that way you'll be there too.
