JET AND MAY ON BUSINESS TRIP
What secretly became shopping
Making an impression on women is done with bags and shoes. If you want to make a man turn his head, you dress in a good car. Although the right choices must be made in this area as well. In the past, before I became besties with Renault, I drove a rather intimidating beast. Apart from myself (because it made me look so slim), no one else liked it. Women became jealous, and men immediately labeled you as a trophy wife. The flirt factor is therefore quite crucial.
Step into a Renault Twingo, then the women wave and the men flirt; everyone immediately feels happy about such a cute and stylish little car. But sometimes you want to project a bit more business and success, and then there is the Renault Talisman. This is the Kelly Bag of Hermès among cars. To test our flirt factor and our business success, Jet and I chose the most luxurious Renault Talisman from the fleet (namely the Initiale Paris version in the most beautiful color that lives somewhere between aubergine and black) and headed to the Amsterdam Zuidas. Because that’s where you need to be for men in suits.

But the Netherlands is the Netherlands, and on our planned day, it was pouring rain. No businessman in sight anywhere. We decided to kill some time at Sla, a healthy hotspot in the business district. I could immediately show off my neat parking skills. That’s a bit of my thing (don’t ask me why, but I can do two things unsolicited very well. Pole vaulting –no idea- and parking in reverse). But with the Renault Talisman, it’s extra easy because the rear wheels also move when parking. And with other cars, they don’t.
Anyway, back to Sla. And back to the men. They still weren’t there, and it didn’t look like anyone would be strolling by on the farthest horizon. Jet looked at me, I looked at Jet. Because without men, the Zuidas is just a pretty boring Zuidas. Which was very close to our favorite Amsterdam-Zuid. And we had a car at our disposal after all. Before we knew it, we drove through Cornelis Schuyt and discovered a new place, L’Amuse on Stadionweg, where you have the very best French cheeses (so very Renault) and wines (because yes, now that we were there) and we bought the best baguettes at Le Fournil de Sébastien, the best baker in Amsterdam. Off to the editorial office for a drink. We will test that flirt factor again next week when the sun shines, because we hereby let you know that we will never return this Renault Talisman.
