BODYSUIT. HOW DOES THAT WORK?
These days, you can't open a webshop or magazine without seeing a bodysuit. You know; a kind of swimsuit, but one you can't swim in. And sometimes they have long sleeves and long legs and it's a super tight onesie. Those things are super trendy in any form, but I really wonder how on earth you're supposed to wear them.
Or actually; where you're supposed to wear them. I get that you can wear them under a skirt or pants, but if you go out, you first have to take off your entire pants, then the suit, and then put everything back on while making sure that you don't drop anything on the dirty floor. WHO wants to do that?
The website of, for example, American Apparel is full of them. Take this example, a shiny purple thing with long sleeves and an open back. WHEN DO YOU WEAR THIS? During a gymnastics competition? A bit of figure skating? Those seem to be the only options that make any sense. And even then, they actually make no sense.
But until that time, I’ll slide the bodysuit under the heading ‘wonders of the world’
It gets even stranger when the thing isn't in a swimsuit shape but has long legs. Then it's a kind of suit, a tightly stretched condom that you slide over your body. Who does that? This one for example, kind of cute and cheerful with colorful stripes, but you're not really going to wear it like that without something over it? And what should go over it? Seriously, I'm facing a big mystery. Unless you're Beyoncé and standing on a stage in a glitter bodysuit, I get it. But otherwise, no.
Maybe you all know what to do with it and can explain it to me. But until that time, I’ll slide the bodysuit under the heading ‘wonders of the world’, because no one knows where they come from and how they came to be.
