Carolien's fast lane life
Yes, another fresh weekday diary from our Carolien. Because you know: she never sits still…
The past few weeks I've been traveling back and forth to Brussels for the recordings of the series of the same name for KPN. After all the terror, the city feels different: many soldiers on the streets, people are more alert, and in some places there are seas of flowers in memory. But the city must not come to a standstill! We continue with the recordings and I really hope that with this series we can give the city of Brussels a lot of color. And next week we are going with a few actors a day earlier to also ‘taste’ the city. So next week a ‘must see & to do list’, so you will soon have to plan a trip to the far south!
Everyone now knows that I have a pretty intense addiction: crazycoolfashionablethebiggerthebetter-iPhone cases! Weekly I scour all the sites to see if there are new gems available. Yes, they are awkward in your bag and yes, you have to hold your phone with two hands, but the smile I give everyone and myself when showing my creations is priceless. In some situations, it is quite handy to use a slightly subtler case, but finding one was quite a task. Until I discovered these marble look cases from Richmond & Finch. This one is at least as cool as my plant spray or unicorn, but much easier to carry and hold. Don't worry, the crazy cases keep coming in...
Sunday was already time for the second baby shower of my friend Evelyne. In a few weeks, her daughter will get a little brother and this had to be celebrated at least as big as the first time. So I had given my cake guru ‘Masterpiece of Cake’ the task of making a beautiful baby boy cake in the shape of Evelyne's dream bag. The end result was simply a work of art: we all thought it was a shame to eat the cake. Fortunately, the mommy-of-almost-two dared to cut into it and that was a good thing: the cake was almost even tastier than it looked!
For years I've been saying that I want to visit the bag museum on the Herengracht. Fortunately, that wish finally came true during the collection presentation of Paul’s Boutique. The building is truly beautiful and the bags on display are each a gem. All the big designers are represented: from Chanel to Louis Vuitton and Mulberry: you would almost commit a robbery for them... Fortunately, the bags from the presentation were affordable and I immediately fell in love with this summery backpack. Let those sun rays come!
Jon and I have been big fans of restaurant Choux since its opening: very affordable and incredibly beautiful dishes that look like works of art. But where do you go to eat when you go out with the owner of that restaurant? He took us to restaurant Bak, behind Central Station with a ‘breathtaking’ view over the harbor. Just like at Choux, they work with only organic products. We were pampered enormously and before we knew it, we were sitting down to a ten-course menu. The dishes were culinary masterpieces one by one and I couldn't leave a single bite. The result: during the bike ride home, we had to stop a few times to catch our breath...
