Carolien’s Fast Lane Life

Yes, another fresh weekday diary from our Carolien. Because you know: she never sits still…

After last night, I am sure: Louis CK is by far the funniest man alive! For Christmas, I had already given Jon tickets for this legend via ‘Live on Demand’: a platform where you can start a campaign to bring your favorite artist/singer or spokesperson to the Netherlands. If your campaign has enough supporters, they will do everything possible to make the event happen. They really pulled out all the stops to bring Louis CK to the Netherlands (the team even delivered a ‘Dutch bike’ to his home address in New York) and in the end, he responded by announcing a performance at the Ziggo Dome. His stand-up, which lasted almost two hours, was incredibly good: I can live off this show for months. “Dear Louis, would you like to visit our small country again, very soon, please?”

In the meantime, I can make it a weekly task: rummaging through my closet and gradually saying goodbye to the items that I really never wear anymore... A few times a year, Marly and I love to play ‘store’ and sell our exiled jewels during a fashion vintage sale. But all that hauling of boxes and racks is something we can't see ourselves doing monthly. So when I heard about Rebelle , my abandoned clothing items did a little happy dance! Of course, there are plenty of websites where you can sell your designer items, but the huge advantage of this site is that they have a concierge service: you send your items, and Rebelle takes care of the entire sales process, high-resolution photos, and product descriptions. My online store is already quite full... It would be nice if you come take a look!

For many, there is always a big cross in the calendar for the Lowlands festival every year. I must admit: I have only been there once and I thought it was amazing, for a day and a half... With my husband, who is allergic to crowds and refuses to sleep in a tent at a festival, this was also the maximum achievable. But this year, I will be on the other side of the fence, as an artist! With Bouillabaisse, we will perform our show “B.S. I love you” in the Juliet tent, where - yes, you read that right - 2000 people can fit! The nerves are starting to kick in, but after all the rehearsals this week, it should be fine. So if you're around on Friday and feel like some Britney mania, be there at 7.30 pm!

I almost forgot about it, but this week it finally hits the store: my Mauritius shoot for LINDA. magazine! In January, I got to fly over to this tropical island for a beautiful fashion report, shot by the fantastic photographer duo Petrovsky & Ramone. It was truly a party to see these ladies live in action. They are so in sync, photographing simultaneously and needing only half a word. What I find so cool about this shoot is that the clothing really takes center stage. Almost all the photos seem to have been taken between posing moments, so I hardly look at the camera and sometimes you can even just see my back. I would love to hang a few of these images in my house. This is my absolute favorite, and I can tell you: it took two people to make that dress flow so beautifully... But then you have something!

Now that everyone is still enjoying the last summer days, I am already itching to wear my new autumn/winter items. Slowly, all the sales are disappearing from the stores, making way for chunky knits and woolen designs. Last week, I received my first winter order from Nubikk. My pair of summer sneakers from this brand has been completely worn out: they feel like slippers! When I saw that they are releasing these sneakers in black for winter, I didn't hesitate for a second and received the ‘Your order has been placed’ email within minutes. Okay, I can't lie: you can't walk on one leg, so I also immediately added this cool model in burgundy to my cyber shopping cart... And until autumn knocks on the door, these two purchases also serve well as decoration!
