Carolien's fast lane life
Yes, another fresh weekday diary from our Carolien. Because you know: she never sits still…
Besides my own mood, which thrives much better in nice weather, it seems my skin is also protesting against the dropping temperatures and rainy days. A few weeks ago, my face was so beautifully even, it had a nice color, and I didn't need any glow powder to get a shine. But now that the thermometer is often showing 13 degrees again, I wake up with bumps around my eyes and red spots on my face. I got the tip to try the ‘Tolerance Enzyme Peel’ from Natura Bissé: a kind of exfoliant without granules, which feels like oil on the skin and thus irritates zero point zero. And so far so good. The imperfections are slowly disappearing, and combined with The Cure Sheer Fluid, there's also a bit of color back. Now I just need to find something ‘sunny’ in a jar for my mood during these dreary days...
One of the nicest things about my job is the beautiful events I get invited to and the sometimes ridiculously large goodie bags that come with them. Like a child, I want to rush home as soon as possible to unpack everything on the floor and give it a new place. And sometimes it's the smallest items that make you the happiest. Recently, I received a few bags from the new tea brand Or Tea? in a goodie bag. Now, I’m quite a fan of tea and have a lot of different kinds by now, but these bags looked like little works of art. I immediately started searching online for where to buy them and now find it even more fun to offer someone a cup of tea, including a super deluxe tea bag. By the way, my favorite flavors are Dragon Pearl Jasmine and Energinger.
Sunday was finally the day: the telefilm Kamp Holland was on TV! I had seen it a few weeks ago, but I couldn't wait to hear what the audience would think of the film. And fortunately, positive reactions came pouring in afterwards. Especially a huge compliment for the art director who managed to recreate a compound in the Netherlands that even made soldiers feel like they were back in Afghanistan when they saw it. And lead actor Matthijs van de Sande Bakhuyzen did a fantastic job as well. Let's hope we can keep making telefilms for a long time where these kinds of beautiful, moving stories can be told.
It was a party for two days in a row because coincidentally the next day the new series De Jacht premiered, in which I got to play a small role! Again something completely different from a soldier, read: a girl who gets kidnapped, tortured, and locked in a coffin. Not exactly a party number... Jon couldn't bear to watch it; he found it too scary and sad. Even though I already knew the outcome, I was on the edge of the couch, praying that the bad guy would be caught. Huge compliments to Loes and Fedja, who as a detective duo try to solve the most terrible murder cases. I can't wait for the next episodes!
Oh guys, this is going to be a life-threatening week for me: it's sample sale time again! Nothing makes me happier than scoring beautiful jewels at enormous discounts. A big danger: you become so greedy during these kinds of sales that you end up bringing home items that you would normally never buy. A few years ago, I stumbled upon a sample sale of Alice + Olivia in New York, and I didn't know what to buy out of excitement. The result: a beautiful ball gown in my closet that I've never worn. Fortunately, I have a steady shopping buddy who keeps me grounded during these days and helps me make choices. The PINC Sale just wrapped up, and this week features Paul Warmer and By Malene Birger. And these just happen to be my favorite sales! Next week you'll either see a new outfit post or a link to Designer-Vintage...
