CELEBRITY DOCUMENTARIES YOU MUST HAVE SEEN
Part 1
Hey hey! Are you done binge-watching all the series I recommended to you last time? Well, I’ve got good news for you. I’m back with a new list. And this time the genre is documentaries. And not just anything, no, I’m of course always responsible for the celebrity sleaze, so to stay in line with my Hollywood obsession, here are the must-watch celeb docs for you on Netflix. There are quite a few, so here’s part 1. Here they come.
Justin Bieber: Never Say Never
Of course, I start with our new fellow countryman (hi Justin, how nice that you’re moving to Amsterdam. I’ll be looking out for that housewarming invite). This is of course about Justin pre-craziness, but do you want to know what his life looked like before he was rich and famous and before ‘Beliebers’ even existed? According to Kiki, we need to see all of this.
Amy
The reasons you should see this according to May: 1. You’ve never heard anyone sing so well, 2. Her story is so sad (so make sure you have tissues ready), 3. You experience how Amy was when she was still young and pure and finally 4. You get to see first hand how love can completely destroy someone.
Annie Leibowitz: Life Through A Lens
Because it’s just fantastic to see all the shoots she is responsible for.
Bill Cunningham New York
From one photographer to another. Bill, the man who has moved the longest and the most in the fashion world. You want to see this. Even if it’s just for his signature blue jacket and how he rides around on his bike.
Twenty Feet from Stardom
A tip from my lovely colleague Lianne. This doc is about the people who always stand in the shadow of the leading acts. And you know, often they are much better than the big stars themselves. I’m talking about Ray Charles, David Bowie, and The Rolling Stones. Ever wanted to see the faces of the backing vocalists? Then you want to see this doc.
In Bed With Madonna
‘Even if it’s just for the scene where she shows how to give a blow job with a bottle.’ Ha, not my words, but gosh, if you happen to want some tips from the queen of pop, here you go. Watch it. You also get to see how sweet and caring Madonna she is with her crew, but also how terribly lonely life is on tour.
