Fun & Famous
Wat te kijken op Netflix
In the mood for a night Netflix & chill? And by chill, I really mean chill (get that dirty mind of yours out of the gutter). But have you binged so much that you don't really know what to watch anymore? Every at your service, because I have a huge FOMO when it comes to series, so just name something and there's a good chance I've seen it. But okay, need tips? Here are some current favorites:
The Affair
Not new, but very much worth watching. Just because Joshua Jackson it features and I was always on team Pacey during Dawson’s Creek. But okay, what's it about? Well, it's about an affair. Noah Solloway, a married teacher in New York City with four kids, meets waitress Alison Lockhart in The Hamptons. What follows? A lot of sex. And you know it, sex always sells.
The Americans
Want to know what life was like in America around the early eighties (think Cold War time)? Then you want to see this. Get excited as soon as a storyline is about trained spies (and no, not à la Bond)? Then you want to see this. Do you love costume parties? Then you want to see this. A fairly unusual but intriguing marriage? Then you want to see this. What am I saying? You MUST see this.
Better Call Saul
Was Breaking Bad totally your thing? Then this will be your next Netflix addiction. Although I assume that as a fan of Breaking Bad, you already knew this series. But if not, you’re welcome. It is actually the spin-off of the hit series. Do you remember the character Saul Goodman? Well, this series revolves around him, six years before he appeared in Breaking Bad. And Bryan Cranston has already indicated that he is completely on board to step back into the skin of Walter White if it can be incorporated into the series. Yes please.
Mr. Robot
I know this was supposed to be a list about Netflix but I just couldn't help but include this one. If you happen to live in America then you’re in luck, it's already among all the series there. But this was a tip from a friend of mine in Los Angeles (a friend who by the way appears in the new HBO series Westworld – also not yet on Netflix, but definitely a tip if you're looking for a new series). Okay, Mr. Robot in short: Elliot Alderson is a cyber security engineer and hacker who suffers from social anxiety disorder and clinical depression. He is approached by ‘Mr. Robot’ to become part of the hacktivists. Shit, you must have already tuned out, huh. I promise that it’s worth it. Don't believe me? And what if I now say that this series has already won two Golden Globes?
The Get Down
A newbie on Netflix set in The Bronx in the seventies. I have to admit I've only watched two episodes, but I know for sure what I'm going to watch when I get home tonight. Lots of music, lots of drama, all made and directed by Baz Luhrmann. The man behind Moulin Rouge! and The Great Gatsby. And oh yes, behind that Chanel commercial with our own Michiel Huisman.
Happy Netflixing! And streaming…
