Seriously Jojo, WHERE are you?!

My 90s youth was dominated by cheesy music videos on TMF, MTV, and The Box. For hours I could gawk at R&B hits from Christina Milian, Alicia Keys, and Ashanti. Mixed in with a bit of Avril Lavigne and Hilary Duff then. But, as the harsh music industry works: not everyone makes the cut.

And therefore, as a tribute to all (at least in the Netherlands) fallen nightingales, a selection of the five coolest women that we secretly miss a little.

1. JoJo

I thought she was such a super cool chick. You don't want to know. Jet agrees with me. Do you guys remember Jojo? A typical American schoolgirl who filmed her first music video at her oh so cool high school (of course) and it was about love. Jojo for fuck's sake, where are you? We miss you.

2. Stacie Orrico

I was obsessed with Stacie. From her hits ‘Stuck’ and ‘There’s gotta be more to life’, to her cool Latina looks, her beauty mark: everything. And nowadays Stacie is seriously not that cool anymore. Her career has faded. As in: Stacie and I have almost the same number of followers on Instagram. HOW IS THAT POSSIBLE?

3. t.A.T.u.

These Russian chicks were groundbreaking and pretty much every lesbian's wet dream. This clip, people. Kissing by the fence, rain, everything. By now (too bad) Volkova and Katina don't seem to be such good friends anymore. Such a shame.

4. Kat DeLuna

2009. This. Song. A hundred. Times. Over. Repeat. What happened to our ‘Whine up’ singer remains a mystery.
