A show in Madrid, a small encore of the collection in De Wereld Draait Door and the next day the presentation of the World Businessclass Bag designed by him for KLM. When you have a week like that behind you, you say very loudly: Thank God it’s Friday.

Jan, when does your TGIF moment start?

‘I’ll be getting on the plane to Japan soon, with my new love from Madrid indeed, and then the week is over, everything has been successful and I’m looking forward to eight days of rest and inspiration.’

I assume you’re flying ‘business class’ and KLM will surely place you at the front of the aircraft. What’s in your glass then?

‘Well, you always start with a glass of champagne and then I enjoy going through the red wine list. That’s also what I like about flying, discovering the dishes (from three-star chef Jacob Jan Boerma) and the wines.’

And maybe see how the other passengers admire your new World Businessclass Bag (which is a beautiful clutch containing a toothbrush, toothpaste, warm socks, a sleep mask, and lip balm)?

‘Oh yes, exciting. Could it already be there? I think so.’

You just mentioned that you enjoy flying, why?

‘Just not having to do anything, being offline, no incoming emails and messages, no phone, nothing that needs to be done. At such moments, new things often start to flow.’

Jan Taminiau's World Businessclass Bag comes in different colors and there is a men's and a women's variant. If you fly intercontinental, you’ll get one. And of course that glass of champagne.
