day lies

‘Madam’ and ‘you’ became ‘Maytjelief’ and ‘Maybrittus’.

Ten minutes early for the interview became calmly starting a quarter of an hour later every day.

One Liesbeth who writes nicely became an institution, Liesbeth Rasker who even got treated to a jubilant column by Aaf Brandt Corstius.

`

600 followers on Instagram became about 21,000 (and oh dear if you unfollow her, she notices immediately).

Johannes and Olivia became fashion friends (because touched, talked to, and even photographed together).

Bill Cunningham became someone known by name by the king of all street style photographers and in whose apartment packed with photos she has even been.

”Some things haven't changed”

Disco remained Disco. Just like Disney Disney remained.

And that you shouldn't expect Lies to bend over the cooking duty while traveling. Or the dishwashing duty…

The desire for wine also remained constant. “Maytje, we haven't drunk anything all day!” she would standardly shout around three o'clock. It was a disgrace. We often did something about that.

The wine pose was developed. We practiced that thoroughly on the terrace of The Standard in New York, at Il Salumaio in Milan, at Costes in Paris, and especially at Jefferson in Amsterdam around the corner from our headquarters.

The era of Lies is over at Amayzine. The girl is flying out. But we will never forget her. We call it the end of an era. The end of the pioneering beginning.

The departure of one of your first and important pillars also means that you are a real company. Lies becomes our Cruijff or Sjaak Swart. The star player who played football with us long ago.

I thank Lies for her nicest words and pieces that I have often laughed out loud at. I tell you that we are looking for someone just as nice. And at least writes just as nicely. So you may apply, but know that you have big shoes (or Valentino boots) to fill.
