6 X WHY ASPARAGUS IS SO GOOD FOR YOU
I've already had the first asparagus of this year. They were delicious. With smoked salmon, a boiled egg and a bit of melted butter. I mash everything up really fine first, then I mix it all together, shave a bit of nutmeg on top and dig in. Maybe not very charming, but oh well. Did you know that asparagus is super good for your body? And here's why.
- They help against a hangover. A study from The Journal of Food Science reported that the minerals and amino acids in asparagus can relieve your hangover. Additionally, they protect your liver cells from the toxins from alcohol.
- Asparagus is full of vitamin E. That's a powerful vitamin that helps strengthen your immune system.
- Asparagus is diuretic and therefore good for the kidneys. Asparagus can give your urine a bit of a smell, ahem.
- The tips are full of vitamin B. Good news, because I think they taste the best!
- Vitamin A is also present and it helps keep your skin healthy. It aids in repairing damaged skin and can prevent aging skin. Well, that seems like great news.
- Compared to other vegetables, asparagus is rich in vitamin E, a fat-soluble vitamin that helps in the production of red blood cells, maintaining muscle and other tissues, and your immunity. Vitamin E is an antioxidant. Asparagus contains even more antioxidants that inhibit inflammatory reactions. So, that's a plate full.
