DIARY #2
Milan Fashion Week
I wake up in my Milanese double bed (that was the only sacrifice I had to make to afford my favorite hotel) and hope I won't hear any tap tap tap against the window. But unfortunately. Day two in Milan looks gray, gloomy, and especially wet. my favorite hotel to be able to afford).
Still, I push aside my comfortable look (ArmA jeans, Prada motor boots, and a sweater by Claes Iversen) and choose fashion. After all, we are in Milan: if you don't show off here, you might as well pack up.
It's going to be a wide-legged pant with a blue-green print from Odeeh (my new favorite) with a top of the same fabric with the perfect sleeve length. Over it, the most beautiful coat I've had in years. An extremely light embroidered piece by Dries van Noten with the perfect silhouette. We're going to one of our favorite shows, so you do your best.
Dsquared is on the menu. The inspiration was the army, and we see the female variant of the army pants on the catwalk. Three-quarter length with pockets stitched onto the pants, tight around the butt, hip, and leg, and ultra-sexy. Over it, the richest fabrics where army and tribal tribes have been the inspiration. In the front row, there are even two men in richly adorned uniforms. Perhaps they inspired brothers Dean and Dan Caten for the look.
I was also particularly proud as a part-time model mom of all the Dutch girls who were walking there in large numbers. There is no other country that supplies so many models. Especially not when you consider how small we are. Maartje Verhoef, Imaan Hammam, Julie Homans, Marjan Jonkman, and Jamilla Hoogenboom walked their last show in Milan and sprinted towards the final destination Paris.
We stay a little longer. At an appointment with the shoe brand AGL, we fall intensely with our noses in the soft butter. Whether we both want to choose two pairs from the summer collection. The show models are in sample size 37 and are no longer needed for the PR department at this moment. We are so happy with our little feet.
We almost dare not say it after all the copious Italian meals, but our stomachs are starting to rumble again. Luckily, Valentina Maina from Tod’s texts that she wants to move our lunch appointment half an hour. Valentina is the best at choosing hipster spots where you can also eat well (just look for the best restaurants in Milan), but today she chose traditional. Tables with white linen and waiters in starched shirts, that kind of thing. here After Valentina, it was time to shop. We went 'just' to the Marni outlet (the haul: a shopper, a little coat for my youngest girl who is almost going to school, and a dress for my oldest girl who is suddenly outgrowing everything) and briefly to the Disney store. Otherwise, I won't be allowed back in the house. I bought three outfits where they morph into Mini Mouse, Mickey Mouse, and Elsa, threw the photos in our group chat, and Liesbeth immediately responded that she had an outfit for the Concertgebouw where we are celebrating a party on Friday. Disney could be checked off. Then just a little bra at Intimissimi and my favorite magazine (Marie Claire Runway) bought for myself and our art director Daphne.
And then it was already time for the bus, an overheated airport (why was the heating set to thirty?), a bumpy return flight, and a gin and tonic with my love who was waiting for me. Milan, you were wonderful again, next time a bit more sun please.
I wake up in my Milanese double bed (that was the only sacrifice I had to make to afford my favorite hotel) and hope I won't hear any...
