Francien Regelink wants to make the world a little bit more beautiful. She does this by getting all women in the Netherlands to start running (the website Girls Love 2 Run is hers) and she asks for attention for sexting. Well, actually, she is asking if that can stop. Sexting is the sharing of sexy (often a bit naked) photos. “Sure, you can send a spicy picture to someone, but preferably without a head, because before you know it, those photos are seen somewhere else.” Francien has experienced it herself in the past and she has written a book about it. She shows that sexting is a serious matter and that we need to be much more aware of the kind of photos we send each other. Good. So that. I like Francien, so I briefly sat down with her to ask her about her favorite restaurant and if she knows a bit about the wine list. Because if that's the case, we might become real friends.

Francien tell me, where in the world is your favorite restaurant?

“Asoka in Cape Town. Every Thursday evening there is a live jazz band and later a DJ plays records. It’s a fantastic idyllic place, the food is good and served quickly. It’s actually a place for the rich of Cape Town, but in Cape Town everything is so cheap that the bill is very reasonable by Dutch standards. Really, go there.”

And who would you really like to have dinner with? It can be anyone.

“Jan Versteegh. I still need to make things right with him. Recently, I interviewed him for my website Girls Love 2 Run with a matching shoot IN BED. I didn’t know how to behave, I froze, it was all very strange. He also has a strong preference for Cape Town, so let’s meet there.”

What do you always hope is on a menu?

“Cheese fondue. Even though there are 300 other dishes on the menu, I would always choose cheese fondue. Cheesy, right?”

Do you find your way on the wine list?

“When I see the grape Rioja, I have to have it. I once learned from someone that the best Spanish wine is made from it, so I believe that. I’m also very happy with my Vivino app these days, which allows me to check if I’m drinking a good wine.”

Starter or dessert?

“Dessert. If I could, I would always start with a dessert.”

What fun project are you currently working on?

“My book has just been released and I’ve gone through the whole media circus, so I’m still recovering from that. I’m now going to start giving presentations at high schools about sexting. There are some photoshoots planned abroad and for the rest, I’m still running a bit and coming up with ideas. With those ideas, I approach brands in the hope that they find it as good as I do.”
