ZET EEN RING OM
This morning, May walked into the editorial office as cheerful as ever. With her always-envy-inducing Chanel bag in one hand and an equally envy-inducing light blue paper bag in the other. That bag, yes. The favorite color blue of (okay, almost) every woman. She had just returned from a Breakfast at Tiffany’s. The best job, I said, right?
I was pushed my first (oh yes, and last, haha) light blue box in front of me during the family dinner on Christmas Day three years ago. You could almost put me on life support. Because indeed, I really thought he was going to kneel. Mr. X was that charming. With red cheeks and sweat droplets running down my bare back, I accepted the box. He didn’t kneel, and the diamond was missing, but the ring was inside. That much was true. Of course, I was head over heels for him (don’t get me wrong), but still, we hadn’t known each other for a year yet.
In the following years of being madly in love, my Pinterest became an oasis of wedding dresses and engagement rings. I knew exactly what I liked, and so did Mr. X. We stood many times in front of the huge shop windows on 5th Avenue, I received the latest catalogs monthly at my address in Maastricht, and we even went into a store once for a fitting session. There you are with your trembling knees. Because: getting married meant emigrating.
The choice is huge in wedding paradise, I can say that as a Pinterest addict and former wedding planner. But how do you know what suits you? Create an account, make a cup of coffee, light the fireplace, and the rest will come naturally.
“Because: getting married meant emigrating.”
1. The solitaire
Yes, that Tiffany, yes. That’s mine. You know that already, Mr. Right…
2. The vintage
The classic vintage ring. A fairy tale for your finger. Oops. We have a competitor, Tiffany…
3. The cheaper, but just as beautiful variant
For the perfect ring, you really don’t have to go to the most expensive jeweler. Even low budget, there are many beautiful rings to be found. Just look at this cute little ring. Simple but beautiful.
4. The Pomellato
A well-known ring in the jewelry world. My dear friend recently had this slipped onto her beautiful finger. So beautiful, it’s unbelievable. Rose gold with stones.
5. The royal
The most famous sapphire ring in the world. I believe I’m going to faint. This is the one and only real Lady Di, and unfortunately, it’s already taken. Lucky you, Kate.
6. The fingerprint
Want something just a little different? You can personalize your engagement ring with this fingerprint ring. One thing is for sure: no one has the same one.
7. The tattoo
Not a fan of jewelry? Then you can always get a tattoo. At least you’re sure you’ll never leave it anywhere. And neither will your husband…
