HAUTE BEAUTY
These were the most beautiful looks in Paris this week
It's that time again for chic happenings in Paris. There were and are – excusez-moi – the haute couture shows and that brings me quite a bit of inspiration. Because you know that the most beautiful fabrics have been pulled from the shelf, fresh flowers are being embroidered, and the beauty looks are therefore also of the highest level. Tom Pecheux crawled for Chanel into his brush and Peter Philips was of course again the master of Dior. These are the most striking and special looks that you really need to know more about.
Dior
Peter Philips has gone wild with the eyeliner. He has given forty models a line, but all in a slightly different way. All in a graphic style, where you see golden colour-blocking, dramatic black lines, and a touch of punk. But hey, it remains couture, so it's all very chic. The skin is of course nicely polished smooth, making it all fantastically flawless. Those eyes are already grabbing quite a bit of attention and therefore the lips are intentionally kept so soft in color. All very natural, with a lovely shine and soft pink. For the hair, artist Guido Palau was asked. Not very surprising, because hair completes a look and he knows that like no other. The hair is beautifully swept back with a middle parting. And it is couture week, so you understand that this comes together with an ornament at the back. I want to directly copy this look from Dior. And if I also get such a beautiful couture outfit from Maartje, then you won't hear from me for the whole year.
Claes Iversen
Baby hairs are actually the biggest hair accessory of the past year. It somewhat resembles the looks of all those cheeky R&B characters like Rita Ora and Nicki Minaj. And all that mixed with the twenties where all those strands were also curled. Last year, Prada, Vera Wang, and Givenchy already did it wholeheartedly, but Claes has just taken it a step further. Everything is curled and stuck like a kind of snake over the forehead. That this is immediately coupe Claes and provides the most beautiful beauty accessory is actually already enough. It's fairy-tale-like and soft, and therefore the rest has probably remained very neutral. There is not a hint of mascara to be found, but the brows are perfectly brushed and there is also good highlighting. This is flawless at the highest level.
Edwin Oudshoorn
Stylish as always, but with a huge swing of now. Think pink hair, think enormous volume, and think a coral-colored lip that makes a splash. It sounds quite intense when written down, but with such a crazy dress from Edwin on the slender body, it all falls perfectly into place. The eyes are grand and captivating, not too intense – because the lip already is – and the skin is perfectly matte. But that hair, that hair makes it. Admittedly, I had a minute's thought of dyeing my hair completely purple.
Iris van Herpen
All the looks that are conjured up at Iris van Herpen I find standard of the genre fabulous. It's just a fairy tale that you are looking at. At her creations, but you also see it when you delve into beauty for a moment. The skin is powdery soft, the cheeks were accentuated with a soft pink color which adds a bit of tension, but also a considerable layer of romance. I haven't even talked about the eyes yet. The eyebrows were quite faded, the lashes had no mascara, but the eyelids were a touch of pink. Incredibly beautiful. If this is the makeup-free look, then I would like to order that for every day. One small note about the hair: the bangs are back. And that actually says enough, right?
Chanel
For Chanel, Tom Pecheux emptied his suitcase. And how. Chanel has been showing quite cool looks in recent years and is doing that again now. A smudgy eyeliner (thanks Tom, that it can finally be runny) and lashes that reach to the ceiling. Fake, because you won't achieve this with serums. The cheeks were allowed to receive a touch of pink and the lips are perfectly matched to that. I find the hair poppingly fun with a considerable curl and a bow in the hair. But the total look has nothing to do with a doll, because since the makeup look is somewhat faded, it gives a certain contrast that is actually perfectly balanced.
