HOW TO LOOK LIKE
…a Parisienne
The au naturel look of the Parisienne is certainly not just getting out of bed and rushing out the door.
Women in Paris spend a lot of time on their appearance but with the least noticeable result. The perfect pore is their biggest ‘concern’ and as a result, they naturally have an amazing fresh blush and perfect lip color. Everything that is ‘too’ is not cool for Parisiennes, and that's why you will never spot them with too much makeup. So what do they have in their bag? A good mascara. But also a red lipstick, maybe a little concealer for some finishing touches and a powder to hide shine.
Treat your face like a canvas. You can only work well on a clean surface. A whole array of cleansing products is on their shelf. Let's believe those Parisiennes, because quite a few successful artists come from that corner.
Facial cleansing €50.90, Clarins
A moisturizer is the ‘never leave the house without’ item. It is used for almost everything. To perk up the skin a bit, to style the hair just right (yes really) and to make foundation even thinner. Oh, and even the lips and eyebrows benefit from this. Moisturizing is just the thing.
Facial cleansing €50.90, Clarins
No mask effects or heavy foundations for the Parisian woman. Freckles are allowed to be seen and if you blush, that rosy cheek can definitely come out. You can use a base, but then opt for a light BB cream or a very thin foundation. It all has to look like you haven't done anything at all.
Touche Éclat le Teint €49.95, Yves Saint Laurent
Mascara can be applied with big and thick strokes. So apply a lot to both the lower and upper lashes, and smudging doesn't matter. That actually accentuates the look and hides tired eyes. Red lipstick (you could have expected that) must not be missed. Especially not during a night out. Further, just nothing.
L’Absolu Rouge €33.95, Lancôme
Le Volume de Chanel €32.95, Chanel
When you think of the Parisienne, you think of simple and chic. Maybe you are now thinking of a French manicure, but then you are completely wrong. French manicure does not come from France at all and the Parisienne doesn't understand it at all. No one wears it. If you want to be a real Parisienne, you go for short and clean nails. A polish is not even necessary. Or keep it very nude.
Nail polish, color ‘Tickle my France-y’ €14.95, OPI
