How to sleep in the heat
Tropical scenes they are. Last week I was still pulling a scarf out of a coat closet, now I'm walking around with droplets on my upper lip gasping for water and a swimming pool. And yes, there's always something. On the other hand, I really enjoy the sultry evenings with the balcony doors wide open, with bare feet resting on the railing, a glass of wine in hand, and John Mayer playing from the speakers. Until we go to bed. WARM! HOT! PHEW! STOP! I HAVE TIPS!
– Keep your curtains closed all day. This provides a bit more coolness in the room.
– Open windows across from each other to allow for ventilation. Unless there is really no wind, keep them closed.
– Take a lukewarm shower before going to bed. This cools your body down and increases your chances of falling asleep quickly.
– If necessary, place a cold wet washcloth on your head. Most heat is lost through your head.
– Don't take naps during the day, as you'll fall asleep faster and better in the evening.
– Get rid of that duvet and sleep only under a sheet. Also, check your fitted sheet. Make sure it's made of 100% cotton. That's the coolest.
Always keep a glass of water next to your bed. Keep drinking well, as you sweat a lot in this heat. And drink a glass right away when you wake up.
