Truffle. If there’s something very small, very expensive and luxurious but especially insanely delicious, it’s truffle. And of course, I’m talking about fresh truffle. Not that I don’t have that jar of truffle mayo in the fridge, mind you (guilty). It does happen that I have a huge craving for a thick slice of sourdough bread with a good spread of truffle mayo, roast beef, and a pile of arugula. Add some fresh parmesan and I’m satisfied. But fresh truffle? Yes, then you score points.
You can guess how happy I was when I opened my email this morning and my eye fell on an invitation to a real truffle party. A four-course dinner with as the main ingredient, yes, feel it? Truffle, of course. With a big smile on my face, I look at my neighbor-colleague. ‘Do you see what I see?‘ Yes, we at the editorial office are definitely up for that.

That invitation naturally came from restaurant 5&33. In November, the kick-off of the white truffle month takes place. 5&33 is known for the ‘Truffle Tuesday’. For just twenty euros, you can enjoy the most delicious fresh pasta with black truffle here. And of course, a glass of bubbles comes with it. And you get that. From my own experience, I can tell you: you want that pasta. Really. I almost licked my plate clean. Oops. In addition to black truffle, this month the white truffle will also be added to the menu. You will get a complete truffle menu where the base is black truffle, but for a small extra charge, you can also choose white truffle. So there’s something for everyone.
The truffle menu runs until Christmas. Plenty of time to find a slot in your schedule. Maybe a nice Christmas outing, May?
