It has to stop with that unicorn hipster nonsense.
Jet's desk is directly opposite mine. That often leads to hilarious scenes, but we really do work, honestly. Today she looks at me with a serious face: “Look, can you please write a post about the bullshit surrounding the unicorn?” Jet, damn. Thanks for my morning dose of inspiration. You're absolutely right. It has to stop with those meaningless hipster quotes about the unicorn. So here it comes. Just for you.
On Instagram, Facebook, blogs, vlogs, Pinterest, wherever you look: the unicorn makes its presence known. It flies across your screen, just chasing you with its happy drugged face and pink clouds. I already find horses scary, but the worst nightmare would be to wake up at night and see rainbow-vomiting unicorns trotting next to your bed. Enthusiastic as they are.
”Wees altijd jezelf, tenzij je een eenhoorn kunt zijn, wees dan altijd een eenhoorn”
Look, that whole unicorn might be a cute little creature for 12-year-old My Little Pony kids, but do hipsters really have to run away with it? I find it something, guys. ‘Always be yourself, unless you can be a unicorn, then always be a unicorn.’ What does this even mean? Just without any nonsense. I mean it. Those fantasy horses don't even exist. But just imagine if the unicorn really existed. Wouldn't we find them completely not cute? How f***ing scary would it be if such a creature came running at you with that obsessive enthusiasm and that long, pointy horn on its forehead? I'm telling you: nightmares. But I'm already drifting off again. here My point? People, just wake up from the bubblegum bubble. A unicorn is a mythical creature. A mythical figure that has been described since antiquity as a beast with a spiral horn on its face. Nothing more and nothing less. Don't find that unicorn cool just because everyone thinks it's cool. Be uniqorn, you know? Otherwise, I might get a headache from it.
