I'M HAVING A BIRTHDAY AND I'M HANGING UP THE STREAMERS MYSELF

Because this way you have the coolest decoration

Tomorrow is my birthday. When I was younger, I would quietly sneak down the stairs on my birthday morning and be buried in the living room under a colorful and cheerfully decorated whole. All streamers in cozy colors, little crafts on the chair, and the most beautifully wrapped gifts. It made me incredibly happy because even though I didn't celebrate my birthday big, I immediately felt like a birthday girl in the morning and that was enough for me.
Now that I haven't lived at home for a while, I do it all myself because I just find an undecorated house incredibly boring, and balloons and streamers are a must. I’m starting today because it’s quite a job. Now I do get quite a rash from standard Albert Heijn decorations, cake candles from the same shelf, and balloons that lose their color if they are even slightly inflated, so the bar is quite high to still make me feel like a happy birthday girl. Sorry, a birthday should be a party and so there should definitely be unwrapping, even if you don't celebrate it. That little bit that you celebrate should be good. So I’ll give you three tips for the best and coolest decoration. Bet that you will celebrate your birthday every year now and your house will be so full because everyone wants to admire all of it?

1. Balloons

You can really find balloons in all kinds and sizes nowadays. I'm quite done with the standard blue, orange, and green ones from the same bag because there are so many more fun variants to find. For example, go for a red balloon with white dots. Or a yellow balloon in the shape of a pineapple. Or pom-poms. At least you can let those hang and they don't deflate as quickly. Or, which I am a huge fan of, those metallic cool large numbers that can just stay hanging in your house for the rest of the year. So it doesn't have to be a whole balloon arch to your door (awfully), but one good example is enough.

1. Rock this party, €4.95, The Cherry on Top
2. Balloon hearts, €3.50, Hooray
3. Metallic number, €9.95, The Cherry on Top

2. Streamers

Also such a thing. I understand that in last-minute stress, AH is a great option to quickly grab the streamer with the last groceries, but do something with it. Stamp the name of the birthday person on it or write a nice birthday wish on each flag in a hundred languages. Do something. If you have a bit more time, I recommend you to whip up a more original streamer. Circles, stars, glitter... You have streamers in all kinds, shapes, colors, and materials, and you make the place a lot cozier with them.

1. Flag line chalk, €1.50, Hema
2. DIY Word banner, €11.95, Outside the Lines
3. Felt streamer, €13.95, Angel Point

3. Cakepops

No birthday without cakes. Seems like a clear story. However, I can't bake at all, and maybe that's also the reason why I love cakepops. It hides things a bit. You can buy all those cool ones, but you can also make them yourself. A streamer line between two satay sticks, for example, or just, if you have more time, figure sawing. Or with less time: just buy the above. Just as fun.

1. Streamer, €1.50, Hema
2. Happy Birthday candle, €4.95, Sissy-Boy
3. Cakepop Yummy, €24.95, Oh So Pretty Party
