JEROEN PAUW is ON INSTAGRAM

And it's just amazing

You read that right: Jeroen Pauw has an Instagram account. And he uses it. If you had asked me a year ago where I should spend my pennies (it's not much, all smashed on Chanel bags and Gucci sunglasses) and I could choose between a Instagram break from Kim Kardashian or Jeroen Pauw indulging in this medium, I would have definitely chosen the first.

Jeroen and the Volkskrant. Yes. Jeroen and Instagram. No. But Jeroen is also the man who always wears cowboy boots under his presenter suit, the man who without blinking tells how many women he has gently nibbled on the earlobe, and he is the man who told Sylvia Krystel: “You starred in erotic films that have been watched by millions of people. Are you often recognized or is it not so bad when you're dressed?”

Jeroen is Jeroen is Jeroen in short, and not to be put in a box, so it’s not so strange that he explores Instagram. I sifted through his account and expected philosophical phrases, reflections on the news, snapshots of newspapers for my part. Everything except what I actually saw.

“Jeroen, you keep surprising me. #loveit.”

Of course, there were the expected photos. Sunrises and sunsets taken from his little boat. But people, the hashtags. Jeroen hashtags like there's no tomorrow: #sunday #mornings #loveit. Jeroen's favorite hashtag is, yes really: #loveit.

He also places it behind the posts I expected a bit less from him. Jeroen in the makeup room with the text: #almost @showtime #loveit. And there are many more of that variant.

Jeroen? Is it really you? Yes, it’s really you.

Now just waiting for the mirror selfie (in gym outfit please), the photo of the ice cream that you then have to throw in the trash (because eating is forbidden in the world of Instagram) and the photo where you cheekily look through two glazed donuts and you’re just one of us.
