MARIE-CLAIRE IN MALIBU
I fell right into it. I got to attend the launch of the new makeup line by fashion designer Zac Posen in collaboration with M.A.C Cosmetics for Amayzine. I know M.A.C and their products very well; I sometimes get my makeup done at their store when I go to a premiere or party. Really a good tip, because afterwards you can choose products for the price of having your makeup applied.
Anyway, I got to ask Zac Posen some questions. Now I must honestly admit that when I heard his name, a whole collection of dresses or a style didn’t immediately come to mind. In short, it didn’t mean anything to me yet (but apparently I often have that problem ;-)). As a good journalist, I prepared myself down to the last detail. After the interview, there would be a lunch with Zac's bestie Demi Moore (that name I know) and the dress code was cocktail. When I arrived three quarters of an hour early -better safe than sorry- at the beautiful Ennis House, which was opened for this occasion, Zac waved at me from the open interview space as if he had known me for years and shouted: ‘Love your Alaïa dress. Purple is my favorite color. I’ll be right with you!’ Well, I had already scored there.
It was a very exclusive setting. There were only a handful of journalists who, after a quarter of an hour of questions with Zac, all got to sit down at one of the three beautifully set tables for a light lunch. The special guests trickled in and I had safely positioned myself next to a lovely lady who had come from Dubai for Elle Arabia. She whispered to me who was who. First came Demi Moore and Bruce Willis's daughters; Rumer and Tallulah Willis, followed by Dita Von Teese, actress Selma Blair, and model Molly Sims. ‘What a shame Demi Moore isn’t here yet,’ I whispered to her during the starter. ‘Oh yes, she’s over there.’ And she lifted her fork slightly to not point too obviously. I followed the fork but didn’t see a woman who could resemble the Ghost actress in my imagination. ‘Where then?’ I asked. ‘There, in the black dress.’ ‘With those glasses?’ I asked, surprised. My Elle Arabia colleague laughed and said: ‘I know right? Isn’t she incredible?’ I hadn’t expected a lady in her 50s to look so young, slim, and fabulous. From where I sat, I stared at her with admiration, I mean looked. What a joy it is to live close to Hollywood, especially when you get to sit right in the middle of it every now and then.
