MARIE-CLAIRE IN MALIBU

You just have to dare. Pick up your husband and kids and off you go to move to LA. Marie-Claire Witlox did it and guess what? She never wants to go home again. Every week she writes on Amayzine about family doctors with Chanel necklaces, botox moms, and the best lunch spots without carbohydrates.

It has really become a sport to search for nice restaurants and lunch spots. I look a lot on Instagram and Twitter to discover the latest hotspots. That's how I discovered The Butcher’s Daughter in Venice. This week we drove down the PCH (Pacific Coast Highway, I’m already fully integrated ;-)) to arrive in Venice via Santa Monica without traffic. Venice is especially known for its beautiful beach with many artists, skaters, and street performers. I have been to Venice many times, but what I just found out is the incredibly fun and hip shopping street Abbot Kinney Boulevard. Lively, nice people to watch, and reasonably affordable shops. Really a discovery. And there on Abbot Kinney Boulevard is the new restaurant The Butcher’s Daughter, juice bar, and café. You can get your entire detox package there, but also just have lunch or dinner. We came for lunch. I was very happy with the fresh, hip, and natural decor. Beautiful chairs and sofas, and my toast with avocado and poached egg was nicely presented. And it was also delicious. I can understand why people like model Romee Strijd and photographer and blogger Garance Doré love to come here. I will go back soon. I gladly make the trip from Malibu for that.

Marie-Claire Witlox packed her bags and moved with her husband (yes, that is indeed Jeroen van Koningsbrugge) and their children to Malibu. To make us green with envy…
