Happy & Healthy
My four cookbooks of the moment
They pop up like mushrooms out of the ground. I'm talking about cookbooks. Bad for my wallet, bad for my bookshelf (which is sagging) and bad for my own book (okay, that last part is a bit of a joke), but very good and fun for my mood, inspiration and cooking skills. Time for another new episode of my four cookbooks of the moment.
BREAKFAST
‘Recipes and stories for the morning’
Author: Mara Grimm
Not only for the tastiest breakfasts, but also really fun to read. Breakfast is, after all, the most important meal of the day and there is plenty to tell about why breakfast is so good for you. Super interesting. And the photos are mouth-watering. This book is also a nice gift to give to someone.
Greek
‘From the kitchen of George Calombaris’
Author: George Calombaris
I'm not necessarily crazy about Greek cuisine, but George has changed that. The photos and the design are mouth-watering. The recipes are explained easily and I can highly recommend the watermelon from the barbecue. It's a large, heavy, and thick book that can also absolutely serve as a coffee table book.
‘Lemonade, soft drinks & snacks’
Author: Tove Nilsson
Exactly what you crave when the weather is warm. How about homemade lemonade? This book contains a ton of festive drinks and combinations that you wouldn't quickly think of yourself. Especially fun if you're having guests, because you'll score points with this. Here and there, you'll also find recipes for matching snacks, like vegetable chips and crispy onion rings. Perfect for the (lemonade) drink.
‘Eat like an expert’
Authors: Jolien Klamer & Marijke Berkenpas
If you go completely crazy from all the food trends and information about what is and isn't good for you, then this is a top book. Experts Jolien Klamer and Marijke Berkenpas know what is really good for you. You only need to read this book if you want to know how healthy eating works. And they also give you 100 easy recipes.
