MYTHS ABOUT CHARGING YOUR PHONE

So many people, so many opinions, and now that almost everyone is walking around with an iPhone, everyone is turning into a true expert. Especially the battery of the iPhone can often lead to discussions, there are all sorts of claims about it being bad and we always do everything wrong. But luckily, there’s Mashable, the tech website that really knows how it works.

Unofficial chargers are bad for your phone

Nope, that's not true. Cheap unbranded chargers are indeed not as good as the official ones, but they are certainly not harmful. What is harmful are the fake chargers. As in: the chargers that claim to be from Apple, but are not at all.

You shouldn't use your phone while charging

Also complete nonsense. You can do everything with your phone while it's charging, as long as it's a good charger and not some fake thing.

It's bad for your device to leave it charging all night

Because that would damage your battery. That's not true. Your phone knows perfectly well when it's full, and once that’s the case, it simply stops charging. The battery is then not used at all. But be careful, that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t handle it with care. Your battery lasts the longest if you keep your phone constantly between 20% and 80%.

You never have to turn off your phone

Well, you actually should. According to an Apple Genius, it's best to turn the device off completely at least once a week, for example at night while charging. Um, I really never do that. Oops.

You should only charge your phone when it’s at 10%

Well, it’s better to charge your phone every day and occasionally do a ‘deep charge’, so only start charging when it has completely shut down. Batteries from Apple and Samsung perform much better if you don’t let the device shut down due to a dead battery.

So, we know that now. And do you remember this myth? Happy charging!
